The Wales in Bloom Foundation is committed to fostering Civic Pride, Environmental Responsibility and to encourage improvement to the quality of life through Community Involvement.

The Competition is open to Cities, Towns and Villages in addition to Hotels, Caravan Parks and Commercial or Retail businesses. In fact there is probably a Wales in Bloom Competition Class suitable for all businesses and groups in Wales.

National Trophies

Class 1 City (Population. 70,000+ )
Class 2 Large Town (Population. 25,001 - 70,000)
Class 3 Town (Population. 10,001 - 25,000)
Class 4 Small Town (Population. 5,001 - 10,000)
Class 5 Small Country Town (Population. 2,001 - 5,000)
Class 6 Large Village (Population. 1,001 - 2,000)
Class 7 Village (Population. 300 - 1,000)

CLOSING DATE FOR ALL ENTRIES - 3RD MAY 2008

Population Figures for classes 1-8 must be taken from the official electoral roll and must be included on your entry form.

The judge will expect to receive an itinerary for him/her to follow on the day he/she visits. It is important for you to involve your Local Authority/Highways Department to assist in preparing and enhancing your entry throughout the year and not just during the Judging period.

You are required to submit a Diary of Events showing your progress on your entry. The design and requirements are on the Wales in Bloom Website for reference (here).

The judge will collect your Diary when he visits to judge your entry. The judge will require one copy to take away with him/her. (two copies for Class 1).

 

Classes 1-8 Guidelines
Quality Floral Displays, standard maintenance; including grass cutting, evidence of Spring Displays & Autumn Colour will be considered. Permanent Landscaping, including Shrubs, Local Agenda 21 & sustainable developments in this section.

Innovative ideas impacting on different areas of the community effort will gain marks. Local Environmental Quality, Absence of litter, graffiti, Dog Fouling, Fly Posting, Weeds & other factors will be taken into account.
